Henry Clews, benefactor of La Napoule

La Napoule Art Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization incorporated in 1951 by an expatriate American, Marie Clews, as a memorial to her late husband. Together the couple spent 17 years restoring the Château de La Napoule, a medieval castle, which now houses the Clews Collection and hosts international programs in the arts.

Accomplished and aspiring artists from around the world are selected annually for three categories of residencies at Château de La Napoule: Individual Fellowship, Group Residency, and Themed Residency.

Château de La Napoule showcases the intimate artistic world of the expatriate American couple, Henry and Marie Clews. Whimsical sculpture adorns the architecturally unique Medieval castle and enchanted gardens. The Margaret Strawbridge Clews Gallery presents an ongoing schedule of contemporary exhibitions.

La Napoule Art Foundation is proud to partner with universities, individual arts instructors and arts organizations around the world to offer master classes, symposia, and arts workshops. The Château also offers live performances, children’s programs and a seafront café.
