Overview

Eligibility: Artists with professional standing in their fields and emerging artists of recognized ability are eligible for residence. Students are not eligible.

Selection: Acceptance is based on the evaluation of the application materials submitted to a panel of distinguished professionals in each artistic discipline. Artistic excellence is the most important factor in candidates’ selection.

Notification : An « Acknowledgement of Receipt » e-mail (or postcard if included with application) will be sent when applications are received. An acceptance/regret e-mail & letter by regular post will be sent two months prior to start of the residency.

Application Fee : A non-refundable processing fee of $20 or 20 euros is required of each applicant. Please make payment to La Napoule Art Foundation, by check or international money order.

References: Two references are required from individuals - professionals in your discipline or knowledgeable in the field of the arts - who are familiar with you and your work. They should understand that your application is to an artist-in-residence program. It is important that the evaluation assess your work, as well as your ability to live and work in a small community of artists and contribute to the residency’s intellectual life.

Arrival & Departure: All residents are expected to arrive on the opening date and depart on the closing date of each session. Residents must arrange for all transportation to and from the Residency. Check-in time from 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM.

Deposit: There is a 20 euro key deposit and 100 euro security deposit both taken in cash upon the artist's arrival and refunded at the end of the Residency providing the keys are returned and the living/studio space are free of damage.

Stay: As the LNAF Artist-In-Residence invitation is extended as a Residential Grant to only a small number of applicants, it is expected that each Resident will stay through the duration of the six-week Program.

Collaboration: Artists who wish to apply as collaborators on a specific project should each fill out separate application forms (attaching resumés, fees, and all other required documentation), to be submitted together in a single packet. Please include a separate page describing the collaborative proposal. Couples should apply separately, with the understanding that both members must be chosen by the review panel for both to attend. If both artists are selected, every effort will be made to schedule them at the same time and arrange appropriate accommodations. Please indicate if individual or shared living quarters are preferred. Separate studios will be assigned unless otherwise requested.

Guests: Occasional meals and accommodations for friends or family members must be reserved and paid for by Residents or their guests. Overnight visitors (including those sharing Residents’ rooms) are limited to four nights per Resident. There will be a 50 euro charge per night which includes the curtousy of one breakfast and one meal per day (either lunch or dinner.) The charge remains the same even if no meal is taken.

Smoking: Because of the age and historic nature of our facilities, smoking is NOT permitted inside any building. All illegal substances are strictly forbidden.

Pets: No pets are allowed.

Non-discrimination: The Artists-in-Residence Program encourages artists from all backgrounds to apply. The Foundation does not discriminate against anyone on the basis of age, race, handicap/disabilities, sex, religion, marital status, or national origin in its admission policies or in access to its activities.

Important: Please note that although every precaution is taken to see that work samples are handled with care, La Napoule Art Foundation cannot be responsible for their safety. Work samples will be returned only if you provide a self-addressed stamped envelope. Please be sure envelope is the appropriate size and do not use metered postage.

All Disciplines : Work completed within the past four years is requested. The date of completion should be indicated on each work sample. Works-in-progress may be submitted, particularly if related to a proposed Residency project. Supporting documentation (reviews, advertisements, etc.) may also be included.
